Our History

Learn about our humble roots.

A Rich & Fruitful Heritage

The Glendale Armenian Church of the Nazarene is the first Armenian Evangelical Nazarene Church to be founded in the U.S.

Our Beginning

The Glendale Armenian Church of the Nazarene was founded with its first worship service taking place on July 29, 1979.         Rev. Habib Alajaji was the founding pastor, who faithfully led the Church for its first 25 years. Rev. Alajaji retired in December of 2004. There were 76 people present at the first meeting, and the average attendance more than tripled throughout his tenure.

In 2006, the Lord called an energetic and musically talented young pastor, Rev. Hrag Karagoezian, to lead the Church’s active congregation.

Our Transition

Following a bountiful sixteen years of dedicated service,           Rev. Karagoezian made the ultimate decision to move on from Glendale Armenian Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Joe Matossian became the visiting pastor during our time of transition. He graciously served the Church, as God guides the future of our Church.

Our Present and Future

After much prayer by the Church Board and the Congregation of the Church, the Lord led us to our current Pastor, Reverend Serop Megerditchian.  We are confident that the Lord will guide us through the leadership of Reverend Megerditchian to bring praise to God.
